    Pediatric Nutrition Intensive Course (PNIC) 2026

    The Pediatric Nutrition Intensive Course (PNIC) 2026 is a live, Zoom-delivered continuing education program hosted by the University of Alabama at Birmingham's Maternal and Child Health Nutrition Training Program within the Division of Adolescent Medicine, Department of Pediatrics. This intensive course is designed to enhance the nutritional assessment and management skills of pediatric health professionals caring for infants, children, and adolescents with complex nutrition needs.

    PNIC is intended for dietitians, diet technicians, and other health care professionals seeking to strengthen their knowledge and practical skills in pediatric nutrition across clinical, community, and special populations.

    Course Format and Dates
    The 2026 PNIC will be held live via Zoom on three consecutive Fridays in May 2026, from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Central Time:

    Friday, May 1 – Clinical Nutrition / Medical Nutrition Therapy

    Continuing Education
    Fifteen continuing education credits (5 per day) have been requested from the Commission on Dietetics Registration. All attendees will receive a certificate of attendance and a detailed agenda with learning objectives, which may be submitted to other accrediting bodies as applicable.

    Registration Fees

    • Single day: $30
    • All three days: $75

    Free registration is available for:

    • Children's of Alabama and UAB Pediatrics employees
    • MCH Bureau Training Program trainees and faculty (LEND, LEAH, PPC, or Nutrition)
    • Students and interns enrolled in ACEND-accredited dietetics programs housed in Alabama
    • Current members of the Association of State and Public Health Nutritionists (ASPHN)

    Eligible participants must register using their institutional email address.

    Additional Information All sessions will be recorded. Recordings will be available approximately two weeks after each session and will remain accessible for six weeks. Registration closes one week prior to each event.
