NI DPG Election 2026

There are a lot of ways to get involved with the Nutrition Informatics Dietetic Practice Group (NI DPG). One way is to run for an elected position! Not every position is open every year, as some serve 2-3 year terms. If you are looking for another way to get involved, please take a look at our volunteer opportunities.

The positions up for election for 2026 are below, however, the submission deadline has passed for this year. Please check back soon for details on the individual candidates.


Secretary

Brief Description

The Secretary is responsible for collecting committee reports before the monthly EC meeting and to build the agenda. The secretary also attends the monthly EC and chairs meetings to take and publish meeting minutes. Attend monthly EC meetings and Chairs meetings, send agenda to attendees prior to meeting, take and publish meeting minutes, and track progress towards monthly action items.

Chair-Elect

Brief Description

The Chair-Elect is responsible for assisting the Chair in meeting the goals and objectives set for the year. Further, the Chair-Elect will plan the Program of Work, budget, and appoint committee members for the following year. The person in this role becomes Chair upon completion of 1 year as Chair-Elect and becomes Past Chair upon completion of 1 year as Chair.

House of Delegates

Brief Description

The DPG Delegate position serves as a member of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics House of Delegates (HOD). This position participates in HOD activities to identify and prioritize trends in the profession and initiatives in nutrition informatics.  Attend monthly EC meetings and performs functions, as needed, to assist in facilitating the work of the HOD.

General Information

Yearly Election Timeline:

Late October: Deadline to submit an application to be placed on the NI DPG ballot to run for elected positions

Early November: Applicants will be notified if they were selected for the NI DPG Election ballot

Early November - Early January: DPG/MIG petition announcements for elections are sent to membership via eblast

Early January: National and DPG/MIG online elections

Late January - Early February: Election results shared with candidates

April: Newly elected officers attend NI DPG Mid-year Meeting (virtual)

May: Onboarding completed for newly elected NI DPG officers

June 1: Newly elected NI DPG officer terms begin

Nominating Committee Chair-Elect

Brief Description

The Nominating Committee Chair-Elect is responsible for assisting the Nominating Committee Chair in soliciting and creating the NI DPG ballot to submit to the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics and oversees the nominating committee. The person in this role becomes Nominating Committee Chair upon completion of 1 year as Chair-Elect.
