Melanie Betz is a nationally recognized Registered Dietitian specializing in kidney stone prevention. The Kidney Dietitian is changing the conversation about kidney stones and is helping thousands of people make better food choices for stone prevention. As a leader in the field, she regularly speaks at national and state conferences and is on the board for multiple professional organizations.

Tammy Nijmeh, RD
Immediate Past Chair
Nephrology dietitian working in San Jose at Satellite Healthcare. I have enjoyed building relationships with our patients and navigating challenging situations with wonderful colleagues these past six years at Satellite. I have obtained the Board Certification as a Specialist in Renal Nutrition. I have participated in the “Satellite Employee Advisory Team” and am currently a part of the patient experience committee. I have had the opportunity to be the treasurer for the renal practice group and I am grateful for the experience. My previous work history includes nutrition counseling in a diabetes private practice and clinical dietitian manager in a skilled nursing facility. When I am not working, I love cooking for family and friends, spending time outdoors with my dog, and going to the gym. I am looking forward to continuing my work with the renal practice group and hope to give back to the profession.

Lauren Budd Levy MS, RDN, CSR, FNKF
Chair-Elect
Lauren, Owner of Happy Health Nutrition, LLC, has been working with individuals with kidney disease since 2010. Initially working in dialysis, Lauren transitioned into CKD in 2021. Lauren started Happy Health Nutrition to increase access to nutrition counseling for people with kidney disease and to prevent the progression of CKD. Lauren's passion is working with individuals of all stages of kidney health and helping them feel more confident with CKD, but also addressing any other health issues. Lauren believes that nutrition should benefit our entire body, not just one specific issue. Lauren is also a national speaker, recipe developer, writer, and a part of advisory boards.
Education: Bachelor's of Science from the University of North Carolina, Greensboro Master's of Science from the University of California, Davis Dietetic Internship, University of North Carolina, Greensboro Certified Specialist in Renal Nutrition since 2013
