Bio

Dr. Jacob Mey, PhD, RD is an Assistant Professor at Pennington Biomedical Research Center. He earned his bachelor’s degree in Nutrition from Case Western Reserve University, in Cleveland, Ohio and his PhD in Kinesiology, Nutrition and Rehabilitation Sciences from the University of Illinois, at Chicago. His lab is the Mitochondrial Energetics and Nutrient Utilization (‘MENU’) Lab, which uses clinical-translational research approaches to understand how diet (or our “menu”) affects human health and disease. His current focus is the connection between ketogenic dietary approaches, mitochondrial bioenergetics and the pulmonary system. In addition to his research interests, Dr. Mey owns a private practice (Menu Rx) that delivers Medical Nutrition Therapy and Preventative Nutrition Services, staying abreast of modern trends in nutrition and lifestyle interventions. He also actively volunteers in professional practice groups of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics in pursuit of his driving passion: to elevate the dietetic profession.
