Bio

I feel blessed to be born a Muslim and a member of the Prophet Muhammad (may Allah grant him honour and peace)'s Ummah.
It is because of this that I continue to pursue my vision of "contributing to the physical and spiritual development of young females." I believe females are the backbone of our Ummah and the world at large. Thus, one of my favourite quotes is: The hand that rocks the cradle is the hand that rules the world!" :)

I started my professional journey as a Nutritionist in 2005 as an intern in a renowned hospital of Karachi. Couple of years later I took a break from the clinical practice to focus on my family life but remained connected to the profession through regular attendance at the CNEs organised by Pakistan Nutrition and Dietetic Society (PNDS).

In 2007 I became part of the Timelenders (TL) family, a company focused on “helping individuals and organisations develop meaningful existences and life”. This proved to be an important milestone; the trainings and mentoring programmes of TL opened up my eyes to the true value of our profession and the critical role we have to play in helping our fellow beings reach their true potential.

Alhamdulillah, the year 2011 opened many new avenues; the first of which was clearing the RDN Exam and the launch of my private clinic. This was closely followed by the birth of my first ever article “A Dietitian Today Keeps the Doctor Away” which was an outcome of the mentoring I received as a participant of the “Writing Skills” workshop organised by PNDS. I love writing and am grateful for the opportunity to serve as Newsletter Editor with RMIG Leadership 😊.

I became an international member of the Academy and Religion Member Interest Group in 2014 which has played an important role in my continuous growth as a Registered Nutritionist and gave me the chance to contribute to the field with a diverse global audience. I feel indebted to the RMIG volunteers for their immense contributions, one of which is the development of the Ramadan Toolkit.

Long before webinars became common, I am blessed to have conducted the Fuel up for Ibadah webinar (since 2017) voluntarily for Timelenders, EBaitussalam and BankIslami.

COVID-19: Food and Nutrition Basics is a project close to my heart. As the name indicates a group of Professional Nutritionists in Pakistan joined hands to develop this awareness video for the general public. It is currently available in Urdu, Sindhi and English.

I cherish my role as an Educationist which keeps me connected to the young females. I enjoy doing Arabic Calligraphy, playing scrabble with my family, solving crossword puzzles, SUDOKU and badminton.
