Julie Salmen, MS, RD is a nutrition marketing consultant and founder of Nutritious Ideas, LLC. She has spent over twenty years working “behind the scenes” with clients in the food and beverage industry to influence the nutrition in foods and beverages, as well as craft compelling claims and communications. Julie’s clients include working with manufacturers, ingredient suppliers, retailers, private equity firms, law firms, advertising agencies, nonprofit organizations, cookbook authors and more. She has also published research findings, presented at national meetings and stayed up-to-date on changing government regulations and trends in the industry. Julie’s goal is to increase access to nutritious foods that support the health of people and the planet. When Julie is not working, she enjoys being outside in her vegetable garden, creating something new in her craft room or playing chauffeur to her teenager.
Julie graduated from Michigan State University with a M.S. in nutrition and completed her dietetic internship at Yale-New Haven Hospital. She has a Certificate of Training in Childhood and Adolescent Weight Management and is a recent graduate of the Academy Leadership Institute. Julie is a Master Gardener Intern and also volunteers her time as the Director of Marketing and Communications for Dietitians in Business and Communications DPG.
