I am a licensed registered dietitian and nonprofit leader serving as Deputy Director of the Illinois Legislative Latino Caucus Foundation, where I work to advance health equity, educational opportunity, and community empowerment for Latino communities across Illinois. I hold both a Master of Nutritional Sciences and a Bachelor of Food Science and Human Nutrition with a concentration in Dietetics from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign.
My professional experience spans nonprofit leadership, clinical nutrition, public health advocacy, and workforce development. Throughout my career, I have remained committed to addressing systemic barriers to health while advancing a more inclusive and representative future for the dietetics profession.
To expand access to culturally responsive nutrition education, I co-founded Small Habits Matter, an initiative dedicated to providing accessible nutrition workshops and wellness programming to underserved organizations throughout the Chicagoland area. Through this work, I collaborate with community partners to help bridge gaps in nutrition education and preventive health resources.
I also serve in national leadership roles within the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, including my newly elected position in the House of Delegates and a former Diversity Leader for Nutrition Education for the Public (NEPDPG. In these roles, I have led efforts to strengthen diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives within professional education, mentorship, and leadership development.
I am passionate about leveraging nutrition, policy, and community-centered leadership to create sustainable impact. My work is grounded in advocacy, mentorship, and a deep commitment to advancing opportunities for the next generation of diverse health professionals.
