DPG46 Food and Culinary Professionals (FCP)

Hello FCP Members,   

As many of you know, the Academy is requesting our help telling Congress to protect crucial health and nutrition programs currently at risk of severe funding cuts.  

Congress is considering legislation that would significantly cut or eliminate funding for crucial nutrition and public health programs. Programs at risk include Medicaid, Medicare, Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, and Children (WIC), Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) issued rules, the Centers for Disease Control's (CDC) Prevention Nutrition, Physical Activity and Obesity Prevention Programs, National Institutes of Health research funding and USDA funding for the Institute of Child Nutrition. The U.S. House of Representatives proposes eliminating the Nutrition Education and Obesity Prevention Grant Program (SNAP-Ed).  

As food and nutrition experts, we know these programs work. We also know the catastrophic impact the decreased funding or elimination of these programs would have on the communities we serve.  

We must take action now.
