Advocacy can feel overwhelming — especially when you’re already balancing patient care, documentation, and burnout. But advocacy doesn’t have to be loud, political, or all-or-nothing.
In this webinar, weight management dietitians will learn practical, realistic ways to advocate for patients and the profession without added stress or pressure to be a policy expert.
Co-hosted by leaders in obesity care and advocacy, this webinar breaks advocacy down into manageable, bite-sized actions that fit into real life and real clinical practice. You’ll learn what advocacy actually looks like for dietitians, how to get started, and how to choose a level of engagement that aligns with your time, energy, and comfort level.
Learning Objectives:
At the conclusion of this webinar, participants will be able to:
- Locate their state and federal elected representatives using publicly available tools.
- Differentiate between state and federal nutrition and obesity-related policy issues relevant to weight management dietetics.
- Identify at least two current policy areas impacting obesity care, nutrition services, or access to treatment where dietitians can engage in advocacy.
- Demonstrate how to initiate advocacy engagement using established organizations (e.g., submitting action alerts, contacting representatives, participating in organized Hill Day efforts).
- Apply ethical principles to translate patient experiences and outcomes into advocacy-appropriate stories while maintaining privacy and professionalism.
This webinar has been approved for 1 hour CPEU.
