Assistant Director for Performance Nutrition - The Pennsylvania State UniversityPenn State Intercollegiate Athletics (ICA), a Division 1A and Big Ten (B1G) Conference Institution, is seeking an Assistant Director for Performance Nutrition. This position will report to the Assistant Athletic Director for Performance Nutrition Services and assist with optimizing fueling and nutrition services for Penn State's 31-Intercollegiate sports programs. The position will assist the director with managing all aspects of nutrition including physical, mental, and health related nutrition services to student-athletes. The Assistant Director for Performance Nutrition will serve an integral role within the sports performance team providing collaborative care with members of sports medicine, strength and conditioning, student welfare, applied health and performance science, and performance psychology. The primary responsibilities will include: provide nutrition education to student-athletes, coaches, and sport performance practitioners; communicate regularly with sports programs, dining services, campus health, academics and vendors in efforts to strengthen relationships and provide greater resources for the students; collaborate care with sports performance team members to enhance outcomes of student-athletes sport performance and overall health and well-being; management and supervision of interns and nutrition students; Assist director with the academic partnership within the College of Health and Human Development and other campus initiatives; oversight of meals and dining including training table, team meals and travel; oversight and management of all aspects of the fuel stations; analyze and develop nutritional strategies essential to maximizing performance utilizing sports science and medicine. Typically requires a Master's degree or higher plus five years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. It is preferred that the applicant be a Board-Certified Specialist in Sports Dietetics (CSSD). This position must also be a Registered Dietitian with active registration by the Commission on Dietetic Registration of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics. The successful applicant must demonstrate excellent communication and interpersonal skills and possess excellent organizational skills with close attention to detail. The successful applicant must have the ability to understand and follow policies and procedures set forth by Penn State, Penn State University Department of Intercollegiate Athletics, Big Ten Conference, and the NCAA and work within the framework of Federal (FERPA/HIPAA) and Pennsylvania state laws and regulations with regard to privacy and confidentiality.
