    Are you getting questions about "car ranch"? (Viral internet topic: Florida Teen Introduces Her Mom to 'Car Ranch' and Blows Her Mind) For insight into this and other food safety topics, check out the Risky or Not podcast, where two food science professors discuss whether something (usually food) is, in their opinion, risky or not. They take a lighthearted approach that's backed by science. I like to guess what they will decide, and I often learn something. Caution: scrolling though the descriptions on the website and noting their votes can be misleading; you need to listen to their discussion to understand the nuances involved. Car ranch is discussed in episode 929.

    The bantering duo of Ben Chapman from North Carolina State U and Don Schaffner from Rutgers is seasoned as they have been around for some time. They have 2 podcasts for the fun of it so both are a bit tongue-in-cheek, with the podcast "Risky or Not"  https://www.riskyornot.co more so than the podcast "Food Safety Talk"  https://www.foodsafetytalk.com . Typically there are some 'show notes' for episodes of "Food Safety Talk" so that you can check out some online related content. Occasionally they do 'cross-over' episodes involving both podcasts.

    If anyone took multiple food technology courses (nowadays called food science but usually a bit different than the typical courses taught by RDs/RDNs) and microbiology courses in college, and you're in the mood for a good chuckle, then you can easily listen and have a few smiles while doing household chores such as Spring cleaning.

    Stephanie, thanks for mentioning their other podcast, which I count among my favorites. I hesitated to mention it because it often takes them quite a while to get around to talking about food safety, but I agree with a description they came up with a few years ago: they don't teach you what to think about food safety, they teach you how to think about food safety. For those who don't want to hear about their latest Apple products, coaching youth hockey games, or favorite British TV shows, you can use the transcript to skip ahead. I will admit that they've grown on me and I listen to every minute, even the "after show".
