        Geeta Sikand, MA, RDN, FAND, FNLA, CLS, CDE

 

 

Geeta Sikand is an Associate Clinical Professor of Medicine (Cardiology) at the University of California, Irvine School of Medicine.  Founding Director of Nutrition at University of California Irvine Preventive Cardiology Program. Geeta is a Fellow of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics and a Fellow of the National Lipid Association.

Ms Sikand is Co-chair of the National Lipid Association (NLA) Nutrition Task Force and a seminal author of the 2015 "NLA Recommendations for Patient Centered Management of Dyslipidemia" and serves on the Board of Governors of the National Lipid Association and the Pacific Lipid Association.

Ms Sikand served as an expert panel member of the Academy's Disorders of Lipid Metabolism Workgroup and is Chair, Medical Nutrition Therapy Effectiveness Expert Workgroup. Ms Sikand is the recipient of the 2020 Academy's Medallion Award, 2020 Californian Academy's Dolores Nyhus Memorial Outstanding Dietitian Award,  2019 SCAN Excellence in Cardiovascular Practice Award,  2016 Academy's Lifetime Achievement Award from the Indians in Nutrition and Dietetics Academy's Member Interest Group, 2013 Distinguished Service Award from the Dietitians’ in Health Care Communities Dietetic Practice Group and the 2001 Journal of Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics Mary Huddleson Award for making the highest contribution to the dietetics profession for her research on the clinical and cost benefits of medical nutrition therapy by registered dietitians for the management of dyslipidemia.
